The inspection industry welcomes the government's announcement about car inspections
Last autumn, the Swedish Transport Agency proposed in an investigation that cars should be inspected less frequently, a proposal that met with strong criticism from several road safety and environmental organizations.
"We welcome the government's decision. Today's announcement shows that the government is serious about its road safety ambitions," says Tord Fornander, chairman of Swetic, the trade association for Swedish car inspection companies.
Earlier this year, the Riksdag made an announcement opposing the thinning proposal, on the grounds that such a change would threaten road safety and be harmful to the environment.
Through today's decision, Sweden will continue to be at the forefront of road safety work and realize the zero vision, concludes Tord Fornander.
