Experience document – Safety problems with older elevators with car gates and swing doors
Due to the fact that a number of accidents have occurred where children have been trapped between the shaft door and the car gate on older elevators with swing doors, Swetic TK Lyft would like to inform all interested parties who work with elevator safety.
The Swedish National Board of Housing, Building and Planning has published a letter (2018-07-04) on its website describing the problem and the risks that exist with the existing technical solution for primarily older elevators with shaft doors and folding gates in the car opening. The Swedish National Board of Housing, Building and Planning urges all property owners to make an inventory and assess whether the described design exists in their own elevator stock.
