FOS 2010-05: Elevator directly to an apartment / penthouse elevators

Question: Can an elevator go directly up into an apartment, e.g. penthouse elevators?

Answer: Answer: Yes, provided that the machine with associated devices and breakaway plates are constantly accessible through fixed internal access routes without the need to enter private spaces. This means that the shaft door must be accessible for inspection. If the distance between the apartment door and the shaft door exceeds 120mm, the space is considered walkable. In this case, lighting and emergency communication according to EN 81-28 are required in the space.
