Due to the accident at Gröna Lund

Who are Swetic?

Swetic is a trade organization for companies active in testing, inspection, control, calibration and certification, which also includes inspections of rides and fairground equipment.

What does Swetic do?

Swetic works on behalf of our members to create the best possible conditions for member companies to carry out their missions as independent accredited bodies. This means, among other things, that we regularly contact regulatory authorities and decision-makers to increase consensus within the interpretation and assessment levels, both nationally and internationally, and to ensure high competence within the industry.

What does accreditation mean?

All members of Swetic are accredited by the Swedish accreditation authority Swedac. Accreditation is a competency assessment that is carried out according to European and international standards. Swedac regularly checks that the company meets the requirements for its accreditation and that the assignments are carried out impartially, correctly and based on internationally recognized standards.

What is Swetic doing now in light of what happened at Gröna Lund?

We will now await the investigations that are being carried out and then carefully follow up on the results. Based on this, we will then decide whether and if so, what possible changes and reinforcements in the control system that we, as an industry, propose. We welcome a dialogue with regulatory authorities and relevant stakeholders on how regulations and their applications can be improved and made more efficient.

What regulations govern the inspection of amusement park equipment?

The inspection is governed by the Swedish Police Authority's regulations and general advice on the inspection of fairground facilities RPSFS2012:15 FAP 513-1. Recurring inspections must be carried out on an annual basis by an accredited inspection body, i.e. an inspection body that is completely independent of owners, installers and manufacturers of rides, in the field of fairground facilities.

How does an inspection work?

Annual recurring inspections are carried out in accordance with the current RPSFS2012:15 FAP 513-1, paragraph 9. The inspections are carried out by trained personnel who undergo practical and theoretical tests to prove their competence. In addition to the annual inspection by an accredited body, the facility owner carries out recurring checks at various intervals, daily, weekly and monthly.
