To meet the requirements of the Swedish National Board of Housing, Building and Planning (BFS 2011:12 H12 with amendments) after the amendment as above, the safety space must be at least 1.0 m + 0.035 v\u00b2 m at the top of the shaft. (See the harmonised standards SS-EN 81-20:2014 point 5.2.5.7 to which the Swedish National Board of Housing, Building and Planning refers). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The requirement does not apply to lifts whose free space is designed in accordance with Elevator Standard 92 (1973), or in accordance with corresponding later applicable rules. In short, this means: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Elevators built before 1973 that do not meet Elevator Standard 92 <br>1.0 m free space + 0.035 v\u00b2 m <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Elevators built before 1973 that meet Elevator Standard 92 <br>700 mm free space + 35 v\u00b2 mm <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>NOTE! That there must also be a free flat surface or platform on the car roof of at least 0.3 m\u00b2 for the free space to be considered in accordance with the rules in Elevator Standard 92. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Elevators built 1973 \u2013 1990 <br>700 mm free space + 35 v\u00b2 mm <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Elevators built after 1991 already meet the requirement for free safety space at the top of the shaft (1.0 m + 0.035 v\u00b2 m). <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Exception: According to Elevator Standard 92, cable drum and chain elevators must have 950 mm of free space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Last revised 20170828, 3 revisions.
