FOS 2010-11: Presence detection in gates
Question: Is presence detection always required in addition to pinch protection strips* for doors (for example photocell protection)?
Answer: When inspecting, a so-called protection level is required according to SS EN 12453.
New ports:
- Impulse-controlled doors in environments where "anyone" can operate the door (table 1, user type 3) should always be equipped with both a pinch protection strip and photocell protection.
- Impulse-controlled doors in environments where instructed personnel operate the door but the door's movement cannot be supervised (table 1, user type 2) should always be equipped with both a pinch protection strip and photocell protection.
- Impulse-controlled doors in environments where only instructed personnel have access or where the door's movement is monitored do not require any additional pinch protection beyond the strip.
Old/existing gates:
- No retroactive requirements apply to inspections. The use is handled within the so-called user and user requirement. Exceptions for cases where the use has changed. For example, when an older industrial environment is rebuilt into a so-called industrial hotel to which "the public has access". A fenced area has become accessible even to those who are not instructed. In the latter case, the protection level must be upgraded so that both a clamp strip and other presence detection are arranged. When the use has changed, an audit inspection is required
