FOS 2010-13: Calculation check of crane runway
Question: AV has clarified the requirements regarding crane runway inspection at a consultation meeting. What applies?
Answer: During the assembly inspection, the load-bearing capacity of the substrate, fastenings and anchorages must have been checked. AV writes that – ”The inspection body must in some way ascertain that someone has assessed that the crane runways can withstand the loads they are exposed to”. This means that a calculation check of the crane runway must have been carried out.
The above also applies in connection with a revision inspection where the crane runway has been affected (repaired, load height, changed runway length, changed design of number of bays or bracing, etc.).
If it is not possible to assess the crane path as above, it does not offer adequate safety.
