The future requires collaboration across borders and industries
Ambitious directives such as the EU's Green Deal and CSRD, the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive, are not enough on their own, but companies must also receive support for valuable insights into their sustainability measures and other related processes, writes Jörgen Backersgård, Chairman of Swetic in Certification & Quality Assurance together with Dagens Industri today. Swetic is the industry organization within testing, inspection, control, calibration and certification in Sweden.
The EU's Green Deal and CSRD, the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive, are examples of how ambitious directives can shape the future of businesses and societies. But these efforts are not enough on their own. Transparency, scrutiny and validation of sustainability measures will be crucial to ensure that they are not only effective but also credible.
It is important not to limit validation opportunities to financial audit firms alone. This will result in a lack of resources and prevent companies from gaining valuable insights into their sustainability measures and other related processes. In this context, the TIC industry, which stands for Testing, Inspection and Certification, plays a crucial role. Swetic's accredited organizations, experts and standardized processes stand ready to maintain quality and independence in the review of sustainability measures.
The future requires collaboration across borders and industries. The goal is a future where sustainability is an integral part of how we run and develop our businesses and communities.
