New focus set for 2024

After discussions and reasoning, it was unanimously decided that the following areas and order of priorities will form the basis for our focus during the coming financial year:

  1. Communication – Work to increase awareness of the industry
  2. Advocacy – Continue to push for specific issues that affect the industry and members
  3. Skills supply – Help attract talent to the industry
  4. Dialogue with stakeholders – Cooperation with regulatory authorities and increased participation in legislative processes
  5. Harmonize the industry's technical assessments – Nationally and internationally

All participants agreed that communication and advocacy are the areas that are most prioritized to focus on in 2024. In order to attract new expertise to the industry, expertise that is not currently familiar with Swetic, what the industry is and works for, we need to simply and clearly communicate the member companies' activities and areas of concern.

Therefore, it was decided that in 2024 we will develop a new website with the aim of making our industry clearer and more attractive for tomorrow's skills. On the new website, member companies will be given greater opportunities to present their operations and link to their respective career pages. The project is led by the office in consultation with a reference group and is planned to begin in Q2.

During the year, the board, office and committees have worked actively to influence future regulations on a number of issues. In addition to the activities you can read more about in the newsletter, we have discussed changes to the fee model from Swedac in dialogue with the authority. We will of course continue this type of advocacy work and from Swetic's side, we agree that we need to become even more proactive in order to be one step ahead and anticipate which legislative issues and political debates may affect our members. At the same time, we maintain our flexibility and ability to quickly mobilize with relevant actors and act quickly on issues.

Last but not least, we will of course continue to work towards harmonization of the industry's technical assessments, which takes place primarily within our technical committees. Harmonization and calibration are one of the cornerstones of our industry, something that both we and other industry organizations agree on. We will therefore continue to engage in dialogue with, among others, the Port Group, the Elevator Association and the Heavy Vehicle Group.
